aw shit.

4 November 09, Wednesday

Today, my teacher told me the story of SHIT.

Shit stands for : Ship High In Transit

In the past the manure were transported by ship, it weighs alot less in the dry form. However, once it hits water it becomes heavier and fermentation process began again, producing methane gas as the by-product.

They were stored below the decks in bundles and the methane gas start to build up. The first time someone came below at night with a lantern. BOOM! Several ships were destroyed before they know what was happening.

After that, bundles of manure were always stamped with "S.H.I.T", informing the sailors to " ship high in transit" Meaning: high enough the lower decks so that the water would not be in contact with this volatile cargo and start the production of methane.
