The Operation

30 December 2009, Wednesday aka the operation day.

Opereation was smooth and successful. Andy is now transferred to the High Dependency Ward, the exact place where Sim laid yesterday. The same treatment process and medication had been dosed on him. Now I see why he resisted morphine. The side effects are really strong and rapid. I haven't seen any medication with such strong side effects. Mostly says drowsiness which have no much effect on me. None of the many side effects of malaria pills (similar to that of a morphine) we took for Sabah trips worked on me.

Sim couldn't pee. Although his bladder was full, his bladder was too weak to let them out. The nurses wanted to put a tube in to drew it out. He resisited.SHY. That's one of the many problems of young patient. Andy has a weirder form. He itches all over,but unable to scratch. So the entire visiting hours we lent him the scracthing hand. We really had to massage on his forehead to relieve his headache. The nurse injected another stuff to relieve his abdominal pain. So it's like using one medication to relieve pain, and another medication to relieve the side effects of it. They worked on top of each other.

That's how morphine works. You hate it and yet can't live without it.

Sim's Operation

29 December 2009, Tuesday.

When we visit Andy this morning, he was in no better condition than Sim. Andy was being stripped off his freedom too. Totally bed-ridden. He had to pee & poo @ his bed. He dared not even allow the nurses to sponge bath him. SHY.

Sim went for his operation rushy in the morning. So rush that he did not even have time to text Andy a word of encouragement that he sent his mum over to deliver his words. What was supposedly to be an hour's type of surgery, took 4-5 hours just for preparations and monitoring.

After I came back from project for an evening visit, Uncle Low was discharged): I missed uncle Low! He shared his terrifying experience of his heart surgery that leave scars across his chest, up from his thighs. Like the MRT lines criss-crossing one another other. He shared his portion of fear and worry with Andy to encourage him to go for the operation. Litres or cubic metres of saliva from doctors of different level, nurses, family members, ward mates have been spent just to convince and assure him of the operation.

Sim is transferred to the High Dependency Ward and given Morphine to relieve the severe and agonizing pain. Sim is a strong guy who refused Morphine and choose to tolerate the pain because of the side effects of Morphine(highly addictive drug). I don't know if he did give in in the end but there would surely be a pain limit that a human can bear. I almost wish to I could have his morphine to relieve my menses cramps right now!ARrRRRH!!

My brother will be next tomorrow morning. SSShh. Don't tell him about the extreme pain, we would not want to get another phone call from the nurse report missing patient.

I made 3 cards yesterday night.

I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.2nd is for Sim, wishing him to see the rainbow soon after the rain and the fireworks after the last second of 2009. And Strength to overcome the great pains.( I hoped he did read the card before he was rushily sent to the operating theatre!! He would need it) Nehemiah 8:10 " The joy of the Lord is your strength."Lastly is for Uncle Low, wishing him to taste the familiar home-cooked food and sinked with the warm and flurry home pillows again when he's discharged. Proverbs 15:30 A cheerful look bring joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones. ( now that he should have both!) happy happy!

Andy's partially collapsed lung

One good news and one bad news from Andy's several appointments in a week. To help the story flow in narrative order, I shall break the good news first. Andy is officially DISCHARGED out of Changi General Hospital! And the bad news is: there is no improvement of his condition, he is now referred and admitted directly to Singapore General Hospital. No way of running this time.

Blk 5, Level 6, Ward 56, Room 25, Bed 12. Feel free to visit him with cards, flowers and fruits. Or simply with your presence. But strictly limited to 2 visitors and only @ visiting hours 12-2p.m or 5 to 8.30p.m.

We made a new friend @ CGH, Sim,18. Same condition as Andy. Partial lung collapsed, pnemothorax.(if you are a medical student). It just happen spontaneously( common in tall slim young boys and in Marfan Syndrome) * People with Marfan are typically tall, with long limbs and long thin fingers.

It's funny. First time we met in CGH, Andy was wheeled- chaired and in great pain while he appeared perfectly fine and normal. Now we met again in SGH, it's the complete opposite. Andy walked into the wards and was mobile. He came by ambulance , totally bed -ridden. The first sight of him really drew much laughter and joy, practically the Laugh Out Loud (LOL) kind. First is irony, second is coincidence.

Steamboat dinner with Hazel, and Elena @ Hazel place. That's the only mini Christmas Celebration that I had with Hazel. I'm really glad we didn't cancel it.She made and bought me really nice Christmas card and present! Thanks (: Your thoughtfulness really touch me!!

You made me believe that the spirit of giving and receving has not pass away yet.

Happy Birthday, Blow your candle Dear Jesus. Make a wish Jesus. They say wishes should be kept as a secret so that it will come true. I don't agree. I think wishes should be said out and made known. But loud and clear please? Because I am partially deaf. Just like him, I need a hearing aid. I will sit at the front row, focus on your face. The lips especially. I would like to know your wish this year. It's my turn to play the angel and make your wish come true. That's your birthday gift from me this year.

Christmas Eve Family Gathering

We had a family dinner @ our place on Christmas eve. Grandma, Uncles, Aunty, twinnie cousins, Andy, Joyce & me. Fried rice, salads, pizzas, chicken wings, cheese, ice creams, but it was more of the log cake and the mini christmas tree(from Ida) that makes the dinner christmas-tive.

Brother's Tube

23rd December 2009

Simei ITE is actually one of the green mark award recipient!! Fly and I wanted to take that for our green building project but in the end was too much hassle and trouble to get permission from the security and management for taking a few shots of their buildings and corridors. In the end, we decided to change to National Library.

Suddenly, mum called to tell me that Andy was ambulenced to Changi General Hospital A&E because he can't breathe!! I rushed down to CGH, ( lucky it was only few hundreds meters away from Simei ITE) and waited for his operation with a heavy pounding heart. I'm sure I heard it pounding no matter how hard I try to remain calm.

The dotor inserted a tube into his lung to draw out the excess air. When I first met my brother at the observation room after his operation, he was so weak that he can't even open his eyes, but merely nod and shake his heads. He was so resistent to the idea of being hospitalised that he rather bring home the tubes. Ooo, now my poor little brother suffers tremedous pain from time to time, he can't lie down, he can't put on a tee shirt and neither can he bath.

May God brings strength, healing and peace to Andy.

Class BBQ @ Bishan Point

9.a.m was a class site visit to Hitachi Chemical Plant @ Loyang. I had a long afternoon nap at Fly's house which is just a few bus stops away together with Jeremy, Geraldina, Felicia, Maurice and Jeevan. Evening we had a class barbecue @ our lecturer, Andrew Ng's Condominium, Bishan Point ( one block condominium, unique).

Christmas Party

We have a Christmas Party @ church, Beverly and Charlene came(: The preparation was fun with our mini choir rehearsals and decorations. ( I think the music beats that I waved in that single week out numbers the of music beats I waved in 4 years of band. And I loved the decoration making process with Ida, shopping for materials and staying over her place just to write "Welcome", " Merry Christmas" and make a little paper christmas sock. HOHOHO,fun!)

Avartar movie with Raishun, Charlene, Dorian and friends @ E- hub afterwards. HAHA, really packed! It was a late night show with FIRST row, but I still think it's worth it! LOL! I love their character so much! @ the next costume party, I will be an avartar! (: Watch me glow in the dark with native strips, swing my tails and ride beautifully on a flying creature. [ minus all the unnesseary screamings and weird styles of worshipping that can be quite errie.]

BBQ WITH PUB

Last Paper!! Afternoon I went for a K-Box session with my classmates(: Fly, Yi zi, Meixian, Cathrine and Joyce. First time singing with my classmates, cool.

Evening went back school for a BBQ, PUB HR people, Hui Hui and Michelle were here too. Hais, soon, very soon, we will be out of the hands of provision and guidance of PUB. So, what's next?

Why are every other schools having holidays except Ngee Ann Poly?!! No, not true. even Hazel is having her holiday though she's from Ngee Ann! I have got 2 more Papers to go!!!): jealous!

Farmville & Zoo World are my only companions for these few weeks. Stop tempting me out. [ The Forever 21 @ 313 is really big, 4 storeys with opening store offers]- It's has been long since I went for a shopping spree~~~. Actually, it's just a few hours ago, but I would not count that, such a mini spree. We spent hours there today. HOURS in a single store. I am quite sure, if only and if only,I have got another few pieces of red or blue notes, it will evolve to a wmajor shopping spree!!

I need jobs! Hope TOY R US will call us back! Stock-taking, night job from maybe 9p.m to 1a.m on 6 January, and a 4 hour training session in December. $5/hr, training will be paid. Cab fare and supper will be provided. Walk-in-interview @ Suntec City from 14 December to 16 December 09.

The pay just seem pathetic. IKEA paid us double for it! But, Iwant it and need it! $40. better than zero.

Cell Retreat 2009

Cell Retreat 2009- The Next Step With God.
Philippians 3:13-14

I must admit I was so reluctant to go at the begining because of all the assignments and tests coming up. But I'm glad that I went.

I am reeling over every part of the retreat. Cuddling together on sofa for movies. The heartwarming shaker fries, chicken nuggets and McFlurry @ 2 a.m. Water-Bombing in the rain. The overcooked BBQ wings. Sharing and encouraging, learning and worshipping together with all my friends and mentors. Detailed scenes like these kept flashing through my mind every 2,3 minutes even till now, making me even more difficult to get back to my work. Just how I wish everyday is retreat day!
